Jane Eyre

by Charlotte Brontë
adapted for the stage by Alan Stanford
directed by John Miller-Stephany
September 8 - November 10, 2007

Charlotte Brontë's beloved tale of romance and suspense receives a new adaptation by Alan Stanford, whose version of Pride and Prejudice earned rave reviews by subscribers and critics alike. Jane Eyre accepts a position as a governess to a ward at Thornfield Manor and wins the love of her employer Edward Rochester, a kind yet mysterious man. But soon, Jane's love, strength and determination are tested as Rochester's long-kept secrets are unveiled.

The Home Place

by Brian Friel
directed by Joe Dowling
September 22 - November 25, 2007

The Home Place is a fascinating play which deals with political and personal struggles in a “big house” in Ireland at the end of the 19th century. At a time of profound change and danger for the Ascendancy class in Ireland, Christopher Gore, a landlord, and his son David are both in love with a local woman, Margaret O Donnell. Their lives and the way of life of their whole class come under threat with the arrival of Christopher’s English cousin, who unwittingly ignites deep animosity among the local population. In his typical style, Friel combines a deeply personal story with a vivid picture of a society at a point of significant change.

The Children’s Theatre Company:  Tickets are available to either Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day on Sunday, October 21 at either 2:00 or 5:00 pm or Fashion 47 on Saturday, October 20 at 8:00pm or on Sunday, October 21 at 1:00 or 4:00 pm.  Please email Genoveva Castañeda at gcastaneda@childrenstheatre.org to arrange for tickets.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Based on the book by Judith Viorst
Lyrics by Judith Viorst
Music by Shelly Markham
Directed by David Schweizer
August 21 - October 28, 2007

It's 7 a.m. You wake up with a nasty wad of gum in your hair. Trip on your skateboard. Drop your sweater in a sinkful of water. And your brothers express interest in trading you for some roller blades. And now it's only 7:15 a.m.! As bad days go, it's tough to top Alexander's. He's the funniest fed-up kid ever, and this is one of the coolest musicals ever.

Fashion 47
